IPPC
(Integrated Pollution Prevention Control) IPPC is a regulatory system
that employs an integrated approach to the control of environmental
impacts of certain industrial activities. It is a 'one stop shop'
with all appropriate environmental dealt with through a single permitting
process. RAC can provide assistance with IPPC Permit Applications
to ensure your installation complies with all current legislation.
Within agriculture, IPPC applies to:
- poultry units with more than 40,000 places
- pig units with places for more than 750 breeding sows or more
than 2000 pig fattening places over 30 kg
It is the responsibility of farmers to keep up to date with the latest
Best Available Techniques (BAT). RAC can help define clear minimum requirements
for BAT, taking into account:
- effects on animal production, animal health and animal welfare
- difficulties with implementation (distinguishing between new and
existing situation) and;
- lowest possible costs
Failure to comply with IPPC regulations could result in the Environment
Agency taking various actions to enforce compliance up to and including
bringing prosecutions and revoking permits.
